How do I make Ace look like this?
I have black tights for him, and I'm sure I can find red shorts and a black long-sleeved shirt somewhere. How could I make the hat and the ears? What about the gloves, where would I find something like that? Should I just put adult-sized black gloves on him and maybe stuff 'em with something?
Remember the following: I am not even remotely crafty. I do not sew. I have a glue gun. I can paint... some. Please make this very, very, very easy on me.

What about the black stretch gloves for kids? They're like a buck or something at Wal-mart.
Have you checked Party City or even Michael's? Do you still have the Disney Store near you?
You go to buycostumes.com and throw your glue gun in the trash.
hahaha Mayberry, best advice ever!
But, Stacey, my mom always made our costumes. You could make the hat from a poster board & paint it, same goes for the ears or you could check out party city & they probably have the ears there. as well as a hat that would be suitable.
I am SOOOOO not up to the times with kids costumes. I can tell ya where to get adult costumes! heh! We usually have a big costume party for adults but not this year. Unfortanetly.
get a black baseball cap and add that construction foam to it for ears???!?!?!? trace one of your saucers for the circle...
maybe???? :P
DisneyShopping.com should have something for you.
Genetic engineering.

LOL @ drew
I don't know about the rest of the costume, but try to find a black turtle neck for the shirt--then his neck would be black, too--Ha ha ha--I am cracking up just thinking about Ace in his steam boat willy get-up! :oD
Get a grown=up's knit hat (stocking cap) in black. Grab a big staple gun.
NO, DO NOT STAPLE IT TO ACE'S HEAD!
Make "ears" by pulling the hat into shape and staple it that way. (Or, if you can manage a little sewing, sew it.) My sister wore a hat made for her head and my mom made bear ears by sewing up the corners a little. I'm guessing bigger ears on a larger hat for a smaller head would work. For the stovepipe hat, I'd get some cardboard and attach it to the hat so it's one piece that you can pull off all at once while not losing the hat part. For the tail (did you ask about that?), you could get some black rope and put it through a small hole in the back of the shorts, then duct tape it in. (You weren't wanting to use them again, were you?)
Best costume I made that was no-sew was when Little Girl was a bubble bath one year. We pulled her in a wagon adorned with white balloons. Email me and remind me to send you pictures of that. SOOO cute. It was also the last year Big Girl was anything cutsie - she was Cinderella. This year, she has chosen Saint Maria Goretti (it's a "dress as a saint" year for us) because Maria was martyred by a boy who stabbed her 14 times. She wants to be bloody. *sigh* Little Girl is Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, who was a queen.
Anyway, you don't have to sew. Just get a staple gun and some duct tape and roll up some cardboard or heavy paper for the hat. ;)
Let's see, if you only knew someone, maybe who has a blog, that had just gotten back from Disney and might have mouse ears ...
How cute!
