what a difference a heartbeat makes

I went to the doctor this morning expecting bad news.

Now I'm just expecting.

Carmine's heartbeat was 117 beats per minute, and my due date is May 20th, 2009. And yes, Drew, I'm calling our baby Carmine, as per our initial agreement, so nyah.

Still, while it's been 8 weeks since my last menstrual period, I'm measuring at 6 weeks (which is kinda what I expected, given my late ovulation and late implantation), and my gestational sac is small. The heart is beating a little slow (my own assessment, not the doctor's). My pregnancy road has more bumps in it than Fortification Street, and it's so hard to get excited when the road is so bumpy and the future is so unpredictable.

HOWEVER. The rest of my day is going to be awesome for the following reasons.

5. Christina.

7. Mark.
8. Callie.
9. Erika.
10. Miranda.
11. Richard.
12. Jonathan.

Okay, I know the last one isn't on Grey's Anatomy, but he's my cousin, and he lives in Virginia, and he's working locally for the next few days, and he's staying with me, and that makes me very very very happy. I hate that I'm going to have to ignore him for 2 hours tonight. But... well, I gotta. I'm skipping most of my other shows to hang out with him, but Grey's Anatomy is more than a show. It's a way of life. Y'all know what I'm talking about.

I'm sorry, cuz. I love you way more than Grey's Anatomy, I promise. I just... well... I have an addiction. Forgive me.
