can't sleep

That's what happens when I take a nap in the middle of the day. I can't sleep, and I wind up making completely random blog posts.

Just got in a conversation on a forum about breastfeeding in public. It's a very sad effect of a puritanical society that women feel they should have to hide away somewhere to feed their children, but women can walk around dressed like Pamela Anderson and nobody bats an eyelash. If people freak out over seeing someone nursing in public, I really want their lives, because clearly they have nothing better to worry about. Also, I know I'm especially germophobic, but damn, who in the world would want to feed their child in a public restroom?

Highway 471 is a very, very lonely place at 12:30 in the morning.

My friend Emma B throws a great party and knows a lot of really interesting people. Now if only she'd dump that lame job and blog more.

I'm feeling the pressure of Dave Ramsey. Tomorrow is our last day before we drink the Dave Ramsey Kool-Aid, and I feel the need to make one last trip to Big Lots.

Also in the spirit of freedom from debt, I filled out an application for part-time employment. I wonder if anyone offers strict 6pm-11pm shifts, 2-3 days a week, no weekends? I bet people will be falling over themselves wanting to hire me. The application I filled out had 25 pages of personality questions, like "Do you dislike being in public" and "Are you annoyed when people disagree with you." No, but I am annoyed when I'm asked the same question 4 different ways.

Ace rode his new tricycle outside today and had a blast. By "rode," I mean "shoved himself backwards until he ran into a curb, started whining till I moved him, lather, rinse, repeat."

Ace is feeling much better today, but is still whiny and won't really take a bottle. Also, now Drew's sick. My poor men.

My favorite thing about New Year's Eve is the Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi. I will wake up in the morning and look through the episodes and Tivo all of my favorites, and watch them after Ace goes to bed. Shoot, I might just Tivo them all.

Now, wasn't this endlessly entertaining? I'm gonna try to go sleep again. Wish me luck.

Don't let the Dave stuff be "pressure." If you do you'll want to give up before you get any traction. You gotta get creative. Have you thought about offering to keep some other SAHM's kids once or twice a week for a Mom's Day Out kind of thing? Maybe not full time, but part time? Wouldn't pay as well as regular part time work, but would probably be less stress on you. Think about how bad YOU want a babysitter every now and then...

We managed a lot with just NOT spending on random $10-$20 stuff we used to buy. We kept a list of things we wanted to buy/do after we paid off the last car. It included a new A/C unit and a trip to the beach as well as a water hose and food chopper. Oh, and a Wii. =)

Stacey,
I have been meaning to use the information in this link.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/TakeControlOfYourLife/story?id=2621388&page=1
This is from ABC News and they are legit work from home businesses, that are internet based. Some of them are call center type jobs. I have been meaning to put in some apps. myself, but have had difficulties with my fibromyalgia and haven't felt like it. Good luck.

Stacey, that link may not work.
Email me, maizie13@msn.com and I will send it to you.

First, I don't mind people whipping their boobs out in public as long as it involves tact and a blanket to cover it up. I would and do get pissy when women are hanging out of their shirts, swim suits, whatever....begging my husband to look. I'm all about the modesty....please.

Second, Dave R. program's not that bad after you can pay for everything in cash...it's like a weight has been lifted...alot less stress. ahhh!!

I like rambling posts ...

I love the Twilight Zone. My Tivo's messed up right now or I'd be grabbing a bunch myself. I do have my favorite episode already on there though.

Y'know, I had a thought about you and the Dave thing. G told me this again and again, when we first started talking about budgeting, but it took forever to sink in:

Budgeting is just accounting. It is NOT the same as cutting spending -- it's just knowing where your money is going. If you're freaking out about living in poverty, you can always try basing your budget on what you actually spent in, say, November. Once you get good at the process of budgeting, you can start re-allocating money.

I know I've told you this before, but one of the keys to successful budgeting is that there be some wiggle room in there. Saving money is good, but you won't stick to a program that's nothing but suck on a day-to-day basis. Make sure you and Drew each have a fun-money allowance, and one that's sufficiently large to get you through the month.

I think I'm going to start doing the envelope thing with you, BTW. December always leaves me feeling like I've got a money hangover and need to get my bad habits back under control!

6 to 11 are great if you want to work at a dr's answering service. also a lot of law firms have night secretaries. i would send spontaneous cvs to law firms (the big money ones not hte redneck divorce ones), email me if you want names.
of course this is if you want to do secretary work. i know you have mad skeelz, i was just talking about stuff off the top of my head.

We stopped at Big Lots on the way from the hospital Saturday and spent 50 bucks. This was at the request of Miss Thang. She too thinks it's The Happiest Place on Earth! Good Luck with the Dave thing..I did it for months and realized Mr Fab THE JERK was pissing it off since it was there.
*sigh*
Oh, and all my posts are random. So there.
