On being a mom

But first - I love Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack." If you can listen to it without shaking what your mama gave you, you have no inner rhythm, and you should really find one. However, I hate Fergie's "London Bridge." It sounds like when Ross on Friends found his "sound" with his keyboard.

I had my first "I'm not fit to be a mother" moment the other day. I'm just starting to get over feeling like a failure because of my lame uterus, and then this happens. I left the pediatrician's office without strapping Ace in to his seat. Got all the way home, looked in the back, and he was sitting on top of his belt. Yeah. Just call me Britney.

He was 7 pounds, 6 ounces and 19 inches long. He's in the 100th percentile for cuteness.

I have taken Ace off of his apnea monitor because it was driving me nuts. It was going off every 5 minutes, but he was breathing fine. I would be holding him, waiting for him to fall asleep, watching him breathe, and the alarm would sound. It's as loud as a smoke detector, by the way. Right in my ear. He hasn't had an apnea in over 3 weeks - I'm feeling pretty safe, I guess. I still check him pretty often to make sure he's breathing, but I guess no more than most new mothers do.

I finally ordered his announcements. I'm taking donations to recoup that expense.

I went to put my pants on this morning, and noticed there was a giant shmear of poop on the front, just to the side of the zipper. I was wearing them last night when Ace exploded. I knew it was leaking out of his diaper, I just didn't know it was on my pants till this morning. I walked around for several hours last night with poop on my pants. Thankfully, I don't go out in public anymore.

I like sleeping with him all cuddled up to my chest. He's adorable; when he's not on his back, he sleeps with his hand on the side of his face, just like the little perfect baby he is. I was holding him earlier, laying on my right side, holding him up to my chest and he was sleeping perfectly. I looked down at his beautiful face and felt my whole body fill with love for this kid.

Aww, heck. Strap me into a minivan and buy me some poorly-fitting jeans... I'm a mom.

I have loved Justin Timberlake for so long, but mostly in secret, due to the amount of scorn sustained from my musician friends. But I tell you what, that boy has the groove thing going on.

YOu are a better mommy than I would be because if Ace was my baby, he is so cute I would get a bottle of ketchup and eat him. And I have only seen pictures, I have no idea how cute he is in real life and stuff.

I forgot to buckle both my older kids at least once when they were babies. I think it happens to a lot of people at least once. I've forgotten to make sure my 5 yr old fasten his seat belt several times. There are so many things to remember when you take the kids out that sometimes it is just really hard to remember everything.
