August 3rd

After 64 long days in the River Oaks NICU, Ace came home on August 3rd, 2006. A lot of babies in his situation never come home. I still read the blog of a woman whose baby was born at 29 weeks, and died of kidney failure. I never, ever want to take for granted how truly blessed I am.

Since homecoming day is a major celebration, Ace gets a little spoiled. We went to see Despicable Me at Tinseltown, and he was STOKED about the popcorn. After a little nap, we let him choose his supper location. "What would you like, son? Bravo? Julep? Char? Chick Fil-A?" "CHICK FIL-A!!" Ah well. Maybe next year.

Here's my collection of homecoming day pictures.

Has it really been less than a year since we ditched the pacifiers?

Awesome. He was sure blessed, too, to get you for a mom.

So, he's getting bigger and you're getting smaller. Do you think those two might be connected? There might be some kind of X-files type thing going on. ;-)

My, how he's grown--and my, how you've shrunk. I love these pictures and hope you continue taking them every year ... though they might start looking a little odd once Ace is bigger than you!

Hm, interesting ... my "word verification" word for this post is "preemi." How cool is that?

Aw!!!! What a tear-jerker!
And I can't help but agree w/ the others-he's grown so much, and you've gotten so small! :)

Beautiful pictures.

Can't wait to see the pic in about 15 years where he is holding you. :)

AWW! Happy Homecoming Day ACE!! Great pictures! I love Melinda's comment about the X-files! You've really slimmed down and look great! ;-)

Watercolor, I was thinking the same thing: When is Stacey going to have to start sitting in Ace's lap for the picture? If his feet are any indication, Ace is going to be TALL.

Happy Homecoming Day, Ace! He's almost as big as you are these days.
