Library Lady: "May I help you?"
Me: "Hi, I'd like to request a book from another library, please."
LL: "Okay, what is your card number?"
Me: bla bla bla
LL: "What is the book?"
Me: "It's Timequake, by Kurt Vonnegut."
LL: "I'm sorry, what was the author's name?"
Me: "Vonnegut? Kurt Vonnegut?"
LL: "Hmmm. No, I don't have anything by Ronnegut."
Me: "No, Vonnegut. V-O-N-N-E-G-U-T. Kurt."
LL: "Okay. Hmmmmm. I have a TIMEquake, by... Kurt? Von-ne-gut?"
Me: "That's the one."
LL: "Should be here this afternoon!"
Did I just find a librarian who hasn't heard of one of the most popular writers of the last century? I'm gonna call back and request a book by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Um......
I haven't heard of him either....
Vonngut, not Fitzgerald.
Yea, I'm another loser who has also never heard of him.
Good for you, though. ;)
Call back and ask about Danielle Steele. Bet you'll get a positive answer there!
Oh my ... can't believe she's never heard of Vonnegut and she calls herself a librarian.
Sharon and Mayberry - y'all ain't librarians!!
Well, you said he is "one of the most popular writers of the last century".
Kinda felt dumb for not having heard of him.
But I kinda feel dumb anyway today so I don't blame you entirely.

Vonnegut was one of my late husband's favorite authors. Weird how things happen this time of year cause me to miss him even more.
