good day

2 years ago today, I held my little boy for the first time. He was just shy of 3 pounds, and I remember it felt like the nurse had just handed me a little paperback novel. That was one of the happiest days of my life.

At physical therapy, Ace took 4 steps unassisted and fell down. Then he took 3 steps unassisted and fell down. Then he took 2 steps unassisted and fell down. 2 more, fell down. Then he giggled for the entire rest of his appointment. I reckon he was pretty pleased with himself.

Got the handicap placard and used it at Kroger. Ace was so hella stoked to walk into the grocery store in his walker. After a couple of minutes spent in everyone's way because he was fascinated by the automatic doors (he'd say "opeeeen" and they would!) I slung the walker over the front of the cart. The handles were inside the cart and the wheels were on the outside. I managed to miss almost everything with the extra foot of metal and rubber on the front of the cart... but I did take out a row of canned peaches when I wasn't paying attention.

I'm so proud of my kid. He's freakin' awesome.
