the things my boys say

me: (singing along with one of Ace's toys in an attempt to keep him entertained while making dinner) "Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toooooes. Eyes and ears and mouth and nose, oh, head, shoulders -"
Drew: "Pimps and hos, pimps and hos."
Me: *evil stare* "Dude, come on. What if he starts calling women that?"
Drew: "What if they're hos?"

So last weekend, Ace stayed the night at my parents' house in Brookhaven. My mom texted me on Saturday night to let me know that she was delighted that Ace had said "shut up." Over and over and over again. I figured it was a fluke. It's not as though we've never said "shut up" in front of him, but to not only repeat it from memory, but use it in the correct context? Surely not. Ace has gone through lots of phases of sound combinations. When he said "dee-aiii-deee" over and over again, I didn't really think he was intentionally spelling the word "did." "Bee-oh-bee-oh" didn't mean he was looking for a clown and "ah-meeee" didn't mean he had spontaneously figured out the French word for "friend."

I figured wrong. Nimbus, arguably the most irritating cat in all of feline history, started meowing (Nimbus' meowing only barely fits the definition of meowing; it's much closer to a fire alarm mixed with a howling wolf) last night as I was brushing Ace's teeth. Ace said "shut up."

Well, good. If he's going to be rude, he's picked the correct target. I hate that cat.

I always say it's a good thing Mr. Fab and I don't have a kid together. We would have to name it Damien.

Our cat is bleeding everywhere. You have my sympathy-oh and GO ACE! for telling him to shut up!

Hubs and I sing a rather unorthodox song to Clay each night during "naked time" before his bath. Now, you've got me petrified that his first word will either be "commando" or "free-balling."

LOL. Ace is such a doll.

Nicole, would that be Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Free Ballin'?" Because I can't sing the actual song anymore to save my life.

Now I'm freeeeee... free ballin'...
(Free ballin' now I'm free ballin')

Bwahaha!

I'm waiting for the day the girls tell the dogs to "shut up". I periodically talk about how we should be nicer to the dogs in the girls' hearing, but then they start barking, and it's out the window.

Claire did, however, tell Molly "nonono!" upon being licked in the face. "Baddog!" and "CRATE!" can't be too far behind.
