If you really wanna stick it to cancer, you'll head on over to this page and donate to Rachel's Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you can't donate today, never fear! I'm putting a link up on my sidebar so you'll remember every time you visit my blog.
I can't explain it better than Rachel did, so here's her letter:
Dear friends,
I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I have decided to personally race for three phenomenal individuals who lost their battle with cancer: Hazel Smith (my grandmother), Ellen Johnson (my mama's college roommate and best friend) and Dr. William Apperson (my preacher growing up).
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training (Rock-n-Roll Marathon in SAN DIEGO) and help advance the Society's mission. My personal website: http://www.active.com/donate/tntms/rachelmisenar
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
You may also send a check directly to me! You will need to make your check out to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Checks can be mailed to the address below.
Rachel Misenar 1635 Howard St. Jackson, MS 39202
I have a goal of $5,000 to raise before my race on June 1st. Please help me reach my goal. Every little bit helps! Plus, it is for a good cause! If you have ever known anyone that has suffered through any type of cancer, you know how important money is for research. Please feel free to share my website with any of your family or friends that you think might be interested in donating for my race!
Love you bunches... Rachel :)
Side note: Maybe you don't know anyone who's ever had leukemia or lymphoma (I do), so it doesn't really hit home for you. Consider this though - donating to any cancer research is putting us all one step closer to curing all cancers. Please donate.
