Worried...

So the restaurant I've picked for the blogger lunch tomorrow is one of my absolute favorites in Jackson - it's a place I could totally eat every single day. I've brought most of my visiting friends there, in fact.

I'm surprised at the amount of people who have RSVP'd that have not only never been there, but have never heard of it. Naturally, I respond with shock and then talk up the place like it's the best restaurant EVER. Now I'm all scared that I'm jinxing myself.

Shortly after the hurricane, Rob, Drew, and I went to Ruchi, an Indian restaurant in Jackson. The food was absolutely amazing. The waiter was really nice, very attentive, good with suggestions, and kept his sense of humor when we tried to pronounce things that were unpronounceable.

I'd been dying to go back, so the next time my stepdad came into town and suggested we go to lunch, I suggested Ruchi. My stepdad's really into trying new cuisines and is very open-minded when it comes to unfamiliar foods - he'll try anything once. I was stoked to take him there because I was SURE he'd love it.

All they had was a buffet - the waiter wouldn't let us order from the menu. Everything was completely over-curried, so it all tasted completely the same, which was not at all good. The dishes with meat in them had a bunch of cartilage and gristle and fat, which nigh made me barf. The waiter was a tool and argued with me when I tried to use a coupon.

My stepdad kept giving me a "look," like "you REALLY liked this place?" Now he makes fun of me periodically about it, and every time I suggest a restaurant he's all "It's not like Ruchi, is it?"

So now I'm all afraid that the restaurant we're going to tomorrow will have an off day and all their food will suck and our server will pick his/her nose and possibly watercolor's or Susan's nose and nobody will ever listen to my suggestions for lunch again and someone else will plan the next lunch and not invite me and everyone will stop reading my blog because they'll be all "how can she LIKE that place??" and I won't have any friends and I'll have to go eat worms.

Okay, I'm not quite THAT insecure and dramatic, but I am afraid I'm jinxing myself.

At least we're not going to Ruchi.

Quit worrying. Granted, if it doesn't live up to your hype we will not only never visit your blog again but figure out a way to do an online picket against it ... but don't worry about the pressure.

;)

P.S. - I now HAVE to figure out a way to work Rushi into the conversation at lunch!

Go ahead. Just go ahead and rub it in that SOME OF US work outside of Jackson and have to be left out of the party. Again.

(going in the corner to pout and plot revenge)

It will be fine. No, I've never eaten there but I'm sure it will be fine. Why? Cause the place has been open a while. If it totally sucked it would have closed by now.

With that said if it does suck we can all count it as part of a new year's diet when we don't clean our plates.

Now bad service is a different matter... you can NOT control that.

Then again, I'm cutting slack to a person who deep fries cranberry sauce...

You so screwed up posting that! No matter how it turns out, we're going to give you a hard time about it. And if Greg's cousin happens to be our waitress, I will definately offer to double-tip her if she'll lay on the awful service, and possibly pretend to pick her nose! =)

I say next time we have lunch at Allison's house. She can cook for us.

I am so sorry gang. It is 12:27 and I am sitting here at home in my warm fuzzy bath robe because I woke up very sick. And figured if I wasn't going to infect my office, I shouldn't infect you all. Slept until 11:44 actually, after calling my office this morning to tell them I am the next casualty of whatever cold/thing is sweeping through our office. I hope it was fun!! I am sooo sorry.

Wait a minute, you didn't make it? Then who was that woman that sat with us???? =)

Just kidding. You were missed.

And props to Stacey as hostess. The entertainment (Ace) was excellent and the restaurant didn't suck!

I'm sorry I missed out, too. I am at work, but I am still sneezing and snorting from a cold, and didn't want to spread my germs to one so susceptible as Ace. Plus, I usually go to lunch with the bosses on Friday, and today one boss' family met us. I will make the next one and look forward to meeting you all. Thanks, Stacey, for organizing it, and I'm going to the restaurant one day anyway, just because it sounds good and I've never been.
