As many of you know, Drew and I are joining the cult of Dave Ramsey next year, with hopes to be debt-free except for our mortgage by 2009, then mortgage-free by 2017. (We gon' be RICH!) It seems like everyone to whom I've talked about His Royal Ramsey that has actually heard of him is from Mississippi, or lives here, or has lived here. So, apropos of nothing, and completely insignificant relative to everything else that's going on in my life, I insist you take my survey. Answer in my comments.
So, have you heard of Dave Ramsey?
Have you ever lived in Mississippi?
What state do you live in?

state of confusion, mostly.
no, no, and do you actually have to ask??!!
Now, since I'm gonna be lazy and not google this guy, who is he?
yes, yes, yes....
we were debt free (except for the mortgage) in 14 months! it really works...i sware... :)

Texas
Kat's mom
No, born there, and Virginia.
I have never heard of Dave Ramsey, but I haven't lived in Mississippi in four years.
People from Louisiana think I am from Mississippi. People from Mississippi think I am from Louisiana.
I consider myself from Mississippi.
My husband does not believe in credit cards and will only go into debt for a mortgage. Our last car (sold last year) was a 1991 Renault Clio. I am all about the no debt. Why did I go to Ole Miss? Because it is paid for.
Rant over.
Yes and yes. Live here now.
Kudos to y'all for joining the cult. You won't be sorry. :)
I have heard of him, I have never lived in Mississippi...and I live in SC :o)
Speaking of debt relief and mortgages, though, have you ever heard of United First Financial's Money Merge Account? It's a program that shows you how to pay off your mortgage in no time at all--Andy just got certified so he could use it to help his mortgage clients and it's amazing how it works!! You can see a video about it on you tube, if you're interested in checking it out--And Andy can answer any other questions you might have. One of his clients is going to pay off a 28 yr. mortgage in four years!! The average he's seen for a 30 yr. loan is around nine years :o)
There's my lesson for the day. You're welcome ;oD
Yes I have heard of Dave Ramsey and Mike and I would LOVE to join his cult... but right now with him not working, we can't afford the cost of the program (but we are saving for it).
I do not live in Mississippi... and I have never lived in Mississippi.... I am a born and raised Michigander :) LOL!!!
Can't wait to hear how you love Dave Ramsey... I have heard NOTHING but good :)
Jo
yes, yes and yes...
we will be debt free (for the most part) this summer...without the help of Mr. Dave...
Good Luck!
Jo - you don't have to pay for it. We certainly didn't! We just listen to the radio show (it's online, too) and got one of the books from the library. The class is good reinforcement and offers some accountability, but we didn't want to pay the 150 bucks for it!
Yup, according to my BIL, Dave says to pay cash for broke down peice a crap cars and use the "company truck" for ALL of your personal running, don't finance ANYTHING just go without, and borrow "those other" things from everyone else who has to pay for them...ie: cell phones and cars that actually run when you need to go on a long trip... (How an uneducated person interprets Dave's theories)
Born and Bred

A Big ol' YES
*PS: We are already Debt free with the exception of my Awesome New House. Our house will be paid off in 2016, we are saving and investing, and we will be retiring early to travel!! :)
Good luck on your quest to be debt free.

i *do* have a budget and am back on the dave plan this year.
no, no, Kentucky
Yes, no, Ohio ;) My parents gave me the Dave Ramsey book but I have yet to read it. I know he has some wonderful principles and I'm sure they will work better if I begin at a young age. I'm 22 now :)
