If you were going to rent a car that'd comfortably hold 4 adults, 2 toddlers, and all associated luggage for those people, would you rent a big honker SUV or a mini-van?
More importantly, why don't I know anyone with a mini-van I can trade with for a weekend? I can't believe how expensive those things are to rent for a weekend, man. I need to make friends with more people who have a ton of kids. Because if you can't take advantage of your friends, who CAN you take advantage of?
Maybe I could borrow my stepdad's extended-cab truck, put the kids in the back, and put my friends in the truck bed. It's only a 3-hour ride to New Orleans. Plus, they're Yankees. They need the full Southern experience.

Go for the mini-van!! (If you can find one, of course!)--I have ONE kid, ONE husband and a honker SUV (I was against mini-vans a the time of purchase)...and we are packed in there like sardines. It is sad and some days I want nothing more than to run to the local mini-van dealer and leave a bona fide soccer mom....

i say mini van. ;)
you can borrow the jeep cherokee and strap the friends to the luggage rack on top! :)
Take two vehicles? Says the woman w/o kids.... :)
Because that back row in a mini van is NOT comfortable to sit in for hours. I don't care what any sales person wants to tell you. It is NOT.
If you want to give them the full Southern experience, they have to have a stinky dog slobbering all over them while they're riding in the back of the pickup.
So, where are y'all going in N.O.?
Mini van.
Our backseat is comfortable. We have an Odyssey.
I say mini van all the way... better on gas mileage and WAY more spacious!!!
And who cares if it's comfortable in the "way back"? Put the kids back there! LOL!!!
Have FUN :)

Doghouse - Not sure yet. Definitely Christmas... CELEBRATION in the Oaks. Probably a trip to the Quarter, maybe a little ride on the streetcar. Maybe the ferry.
It's hard to look at NO from a tourist's perspective again. I have all my favorite places and will go every time I'm down there. I kinda tend to forget exactly where it is people from out of town want to go :)
Live dangerously. Get a convertible.
Although I'm a born and bred Yankee, I did grow up in the "Alabama between Philly and Pittsburgh". It's not like I've never been for a ride in an 8-foot bed that never has to be made.
