The results

Okay, it's 1:06am, later than I've stayed up in a while, but I had to get y'all's approval. I don't even know the legalities of posting these pictures here, but if it's bad, tell me and I'll take them down.

I had so much fun. People kept staring at me with varying levels of comfort... some were posing when I didn't even have my camera up. I talked to a lot of really cool people.

Regarding the pictures themselves... well, I don't think I have the eye much yet. I have the camera, the sweet, sweet camera, but I think it'll just take some time to get completely used to getting the right shot at the right time. I'm really looking forward to doing it again though.

Here are 3 of the pictures from the release party. Yes, only 3. Uploading takes more time than I feel like spending. I might put the rest on my flickr, I'm not sure yet.

This was the line - I really suck at estimating, so I'm gonna say there were about 50 people there in all. It was kind of a dud when I got there - maybe 6 people, but the line started growing, as did everyone's excitement.

This girl just had the biggest grin on her face the whole night. When she got there, she just radiated excitement, which just made me so happy. Seeing kids read at all makes me happy, seeing kids with a crazy excitement to read makes me REALLY happy. She picked up her book with the biggest smile on her face - I asked if she was excited and she just grinned and nodded. I watched her walk out the door with the same grin on her face and I just felt the excitement she had over FINALLY reading this book. I loved that her mom brought her (and I guess her brother?) out to get the book... that's just something that's so exciting for a kid.

I wanted to get pictures of people actually getting the book in their hot little hands and being all excited about it, but I didn't think of that till after everyone had crowded around the books. Shucks. Oh well.

I did get pictures of two kids - one boy and one girl - that dressed like Harry Potter. CUTE.

This guy totally cracked me up. He and his friend kept talking about their wives letting them go out to get this book. I added this guy to my myspace. Because that's what the cool kids do.

That's it for the party. I'll let y'all know if I put more up on flickr.

Here's some more though:

The weather was a wee bit touchy earlier... I think Stepmommy will like this picture.

And if you read all that, congratulations. I will now reward you with exclusive Ace pictures that Drew hasn't put on his flickr yet.

Let me tell you, Internets, these are way better if you click on them. True story.

I seriously can't wait to do this again. Maybe I'll finally have a hobby.

I was one of those grinners, only I was at a little bookstore in Waynesville, NC. Our party had a magician, storytellers, and real owls at the toy store next door. It was awesome, except that there were so many people. I bought my book as soon as I could, came home, and read 100 pages before I conked out.

Guess what I'll be doing all day today!

Glad you had fun. It really is neat to be around so many excited kids (a lot of ours were dressed up as well).

I still can't believe that there were a hundred people in line at 5pm at the metaire barnes and noble.

I mean, it's not like it was a new star wars movie or something :)
