There goes my hero

So I was tagged for a meme that asked me to name my heroes. I realized that, other than the obvious, I have no heroes. Certainly, there are people I admire, but the only person I admire enough to be labeled a hero would be Jesus Christ. That's kinda cheating, though, because he's a hero in both the romantic and denotative senses of the word.

I suppose I could go general and say doctors, firefighters, rescue workers, police officers, and the like.

Am I alone? Does everyone have a hero, let alone five?

As far as heros go, I'd probably pick any one of these people:

The martyrs are big heros of mine. Saint Peter is probably near the very top of the list for me. Up there with him are the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Mary Magdaline, and all the Apostles and early saints. But most especially all those who were martyred for the Faith.

Personally, I'm not sure I would pick Jesus as a hero, just because He is God. It seems strange (at least to me) to call God a hero. He is SO much more than that. (Not that I think that you think less of Him, but that's just me.)

Jesus is a hero in the sense that he gave everything up and died for the world. At least, that's my take.

No, your not the only one. There honestly is no one that I can name as a hero. I never wanted to say anything because it is a comment that makes you feel inadequate...if that's the right word.

A hero is defined as "...someone admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities", and I simply Know no one with those qualities.

Though i do have to agree with you, if jeus can be considered (which I can't imagine why not) I would call him my hero. He's defintely someone who fits that deinition.

On top of my list would be my little brother who died for our country a little over 2 years ago. I love you Michael.

Next would be all who have been martyred for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and all who go out into the nations and make disciples of men. If you love Jesus, proclaim it!!!

Mohandas Ghandi and Nelson Mandela. Sigfried Sassoon was no slouch in standing up for what he believed during WW1. I have just watched the movie Regeneration, excellent! (Based on the book of the same name by Pat Barker - which I have not yet read.)
