Happy Mardi Gras!

Yay, it's Mardi Gras! I have some seriously fond memories of Mardi Gras. Metairie parades were always the most fun (on Mardi Gras day, that is). It's not all boobs, booze, and beads, y'all. It's so much more. If you need an example, go see nola.com's front page. Barely anything about Katrina. This is a day where we forget our worries, our fears, our difficult lives, and just let the good times roll.

So, for just a few minutes today, feel free to be free from worries. Celebrate Mardi Gras in your own way - just keep it's spirit in mind. Go watch nola.com's parade cam, eat something super sweet with lunch, wear your boldest jewelry to work, whatever you want. Just pass a good time!

For Mardi Gras, I am attempting to make a king cake. I don't know how this will turn out, and I'm cutting it close to the midnight cutoff time for the cake to be finished, but I am determined. Good thing I'm on Pacific time. It's gonna be stuffed with cream cheese... mmmmmmmmm.

A king cake would be wonderful... It's been years since I've had a taste of one.

Hope the cream cheese thing works out for you; I prefer my cakes creamandcheeseless. :)

Except cheesecake. I like cheesecake.

I wore Mardi Gras beads to work like a fool (I work on a military installation, ha ha). Wore 'em all day long, too!
