Today

Today I've learned:
-Santa doesn't like little boys that cry. (Spoken by a truly frazzled mother to an even more frazzled little boy at Target. His response? "SANTA DOESN'T LIKE ME??" Way to go, mom.)
-Read the instructions. (Would have saved me 30 minutes and a lot of angry words.)
-I should have done my Christmas shopping on Amazon a month ago.

Today's best quote, hands down:
"...nobody would rename a menorah a 'holiday candelabra...'" (Thanks, Tony. So true, so true.) (or should I call you Tony the Daddy?)

Today's second best quote: My friend Jolene (who I met on a message board for women who have suffered ectopic pregnancies) and I were talking about various people who treat their children poorly. She said "maybe I should make up business cards with my name and under that put 'lost a baby to ectopic pregnancy april 29, 2005. Call me when you need a reminder how damn lucky you are to have your child.'" I second that emotion. I think it's a great idea.

Today my friend Christine posted several funny cartoons on her site. Here are a few:
What'd you do?
We wish you a NOW-y Christmas

The best one...

Today I almost finished my Christmas shopping. I'm so close, I can taste it.

Today I realized that Drew insists on going Christmas shopping with me, but only to Bass Pro Shops. He didn't want to go to Bath and Body Works. Hmmm...

Today, Amazon e-mailed me and told me that the book I ordered for my mom's birthday, which was supposed to be in a week late but that was okay, will now not be in until January. My mom's birthday was November 5th. I've passed the deadline. Thanks for nothing, Amazon.

Today, I'm going to start reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

Today I found out my friend Tony is going to be a father. This is the most wonderful news I've heard all day. Congratulations, you two! I can't believe it - so great! By the way, if ever there were a person who needed a blog, it's Tony. Especially now.

Stacey,

Can I get cards, too? Ones that say, "I can't have children because it's too dangerous to be pregnant." You know, that kind of thing. It's hard to see women who just don't seem to care about their kids when I SO badly wanted more and can't. :(

Hope you and Drew are well. Don't think that he'll ever want to Christmas shop with you, though. I do all of it nearly by myself, including for his mother (for Mother's Day, too). It's just part of the package, I guess. He makes the money and takes care of us, I show him what we are giving everyone for Christmas. It's a good deal to me!

Merry Christmas!

Nice idea with the cards. But a little nitpicking from your favorite Jew. Technically, we light a chanukkiyah (an 8 branched candelabra) for Chanukkah. A menorah only has seven branches and is one of the symbols of Judaism. I'm such a nerd. Sorry.
