I'll never do drugs!

Have y'all seen those anti-drug commercials? Specifically, the Responsibility campaign? They are so sad!

In the first one I saw, an older woman was sitting at a table, looking slightly uncomfortable. She looked around, adjusted place settings, and just looked sad. The voiceover said (and I paraphrase) "Just tell your grandma you missed dinner because you were high." My jaw dropped open and this awful, hollow space opened up inside my heart.

In the second one I saw, a little girl of about 7 was standing in the middle of a crowd at what looked to be a fair. She was holding a balloon and staring up at everyone, looking completely lost. The voiceover said (again, paraphrased) "Just tell your parents you lost track of her because you were getting stoned." Okay, I cannot explain the sadness I feel at these commercials.

I don't do drugs and never have, but now that I've seen those commercials, I swear I will NEVER DO THEM EVER. I mean it. Ever. I don't want my little sister to get lost because I'm getting high. And by George, if my feeling of responsibility toward my 19- and 22-year-old sisters is the impetus for my abstinence from drugs, so be it. To the creators of that campaign, thank you. You have succeeded.

COUSIN. I wrote a 15 page paper about those commercials.. don't even get me started. They're [I feel] horrible and should be taken off the air and whoever OK'd them being aired should be beaten... but not for the reasons you'd think.

Thanks for the cousin photos!

Love ya.
