News review

This is making me angry.
People who use religion to replace legitimate medical treatment are irresponsible, and the advocacy of such action is equally irresponsible. If Tom Cruise's child had diabetes, would he give his child vitamins and tell him to be a good Scientologist? As someone who has suffered from depression, I have argued with many a fellow Christian that depression can no more be prayed away than can a broken arm. Yes, God can heal anything, but we must be have the faith required for Him to intervene, and no human I know has ever posessed that amount of faith. God gave us doctors for a reason.

there's always the God Invented Medicine argument, which is what Muslims say.
I hate it when people tell people who are depressed to "stop being depressed". It's like telling someone with cancer, "stop having cancer." When will people realize that certain issues are actually medical issues and not vain attempts for attention?

I love me some anti-depressants.

I came across your blog yesterday, only now I can't recall from where. :o)

Just wanted to say that you're right on target with this entry -- it's something close to my heart, and something that's been on my mind a lot lately. Thanks for posting this!
