You know what?

I know every mom says this about her child, but I don't care. My son is totally brilliant. Today, he pulled a straw out of a cup, bent it in half, put his finger across the middle, and said "that's an A!" He knows his full name (which is nothing to sneeze at) and his father's full name, and he knows that my name is "Mama." (Because doggonit, he will call me "Stacey" as soon as he figures out that's my name, and I refuse. I REFUSE. I'm already annoyed that he calls me "Mom" on occasion.)

Now, I know this isn't technically READING, but he saw the letters and figured out that those letters spelled "Ace," since he knows that A-C-E spells "Ace." I think that makes him brilliant. Also, the way he figures it out and then says it? Melt-your-heart ADORABLE. I really think I can teach him how to read soon. I was reading when I was 4, so maybe the freakin' brilliant genes passed down.

It could be reading. I was reading at his age. Seriously.

Um, yes he's brilliant! I told you that I am amazed at how clearly he speaks for not even 3 yrs old yet! He does NOT sound like a baby at all! Jayden love letters and knows that D O G spells dog, but since his speech is so delayed, reading won't happen too soon, but I know that if it weren't for that delay, he'd ba an early reader! I sure do think Ace will be one though! I love me some Ace videos!!

Maybe you should have named him Mozart...I don't think it will be long before he is composing whole sonatas....and he will look absolutely adorable the whole time:)

The boys had to watch this video at LEAST 10 times...with Galen, my 5 yo (almost 6), asking "Mommy, what does A-C-E spell?" 'Nough said!

"...right there on the bathtub." That is freaking brilliant! And hilariously funny.

Btw, I think your husband might have made some contribution to Ace's brilliance. Just sayin'.

Too freakin cute!! I love "right there in the bathtub!" He's amazed by that :)

Oh... and I was irritated when Blake started calling me Mom too when he was about Ace's age. UGH!

Now he's 9 and many times calls me Mommy. WTF??

LOL!!!

Thanks for sharing your ADORABLE and BRILLIANT child with us!!!

The word recognition stuff is the initial little kernels of reading. Way to go Ace! Very cool!
