Election day...

So Mississippi's primary election is this Tuesday. I'm pretty stoked to be voting for Ron Paul; while I know he'll need a literal miracle, my vote for him is a symbol of the culmination of a year of hard work in getting his message out. Many of you have thanked me for talking about him on here, and to know that other people know about and voted for Ron Paul because of me makes me happier than many of you can understand.

That said, voting in the congressional race is going to be a pretty hard one for me.

You all know my "no killing innocents" rule; I will not vote for anyone who is in favor of legalized abortion or anyone who is in favor of any war, legitimate self-defense notwithstanding. (And no, the "war on terror" is not legitimate self-defense.) Predictably, I can't find anyone in the congressional race who supports immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan, and it's a darn shame.

To weed out the people who are against the "war on terror," I have to find certain hidden language to that effect. John Rounsaville didn't make it hard on me, as the front page of his website says "I will work to safeguard our nation and keep us on offense in the global war on terrorism..." Bla bla bla. Next. David Landrum is also pretty transparent about his desires to "win the war on terror." Bzzzt, wrong. Gregg Harper wants to "fight terrorists abroad so they will not be able to attack us in America." Dude, gag me.

Charlie Ross sneaks in a comment about "strong national defense," and Greg Hatcher favors a "strong national military for defense." James Broadwater wants "a strong and ready military in order to provide for a strong national defense and to protect our interests abroad." Plus, that dude kinda hates the gays. Seriously, bro. Gay isn't contagious.

Sigh.

William "Put Bill on the Hill" Marcy was sounding GREAT. Sounded almost libertarian. "...the best government is that which governs least." Amen, my friend. I even liked his website itself, with the basic formatting and the spelling and grammar errors. It showed that he had heart. Then, unfortunately, this statement: "I believe Americans values should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom, human rights throughout the world." News flash: extending peace, freedom, and human rights throughout the world ain't our job, and all of those things are code words for "war, war, and war."

Drew has said he'll write in various body parts, but I won't be so rude. Maybe Mickey Mouse. Or Ace. Congressman Ace, 21 months old and already smarter than 100% of other candidates. That's what I'm talkin' bout.

I really hope the voters shake off their apathy and vote for Mr. Myleftbuttcheek for 3rd congressional district.
