Bye bye, $150...

I am fixin' to freak the hell out.

Ants. Again. I can NOT get rid of the !$^!$%$... They used to come every 6 months or so, but would go away after a few days. I fought them from October 2006 through March of this year... FIVE MONTHS, people. I tried everything. EVERYTHING. I finally called our regular bug guys and they came and sprayed some super expensive ant spray, which didn't work at first, but did seem to get rid of the ants after a second visit.

The bug guys came out in October for the regular quarterly service and sprayed the super expensive ant spray ($98 and some change). I saw some ants last week and paid for a revisit ($50 and some change).

I woke up in a good mood this morning. Everything was okay... Ace has a little fever and was fussy, but nothing I couldn't handle. I was going to make cinnamon raisin pancakes and bacon and eggs, a nice big Sunday breakfast. I was going to clean my car, watch the Saints game, maybe mop the floors.

Nooooo. Now the sons of *#%^&@ are coming in through my laundry room wall. They were all over my island counter top. They were having a field day with all of the crumbs on the counter top that were somehow missed by Clorox wipes. Not to mention Ace's cough syrup that spilled on our giant wooden cutting board. Now? Now I feel them all over my body and crawling in my hair and on my back and my legs... I have a bonafide case of the willies.

They're back. I'm going to stay in a hotel until they are gone. I'm sure as hell not cooking anything. I'm going to have to buy a giant gate to keep Ace out of the kitchen. That's exactly what I need... A coughing, fevery child covered in freakin' ant bites.

I HATE ANTS SO DAMN MUCH.

Oh boy do I know how you feel!!! But thank God it has been a summer problem so far! I hate them, too! And Landon swells up like a marshmallow if he gets bit by the stupid things--UGH! I always run around the kitcken spraying them with Clorox and I've heard that sprinkling cayenne pepper where they're coming in keeps them out, too (you might want to Google that--it could be cayenne pepper or some other red seasoning...) :o)

Oh yuck! So sorry!!!

Are they spraying your yard and the outside perimeter of your house? I am assuming so, but just asking to make sure the obvious isn't being over looked.

And, unfortunately, after they spray, you have to be hyper vigilant about keeping the kitchen spotless for weeks so they aren't attracted back. Bleck. Crazy little boogers.

I feel your pain, sister. If you do figure out how to finally get rid of them, please let me know!
Our trouble now is with fireants, or should I say, Satan's little minions.

I'm guessing the old game Ants In The Pants isn't a family favorite.

Why don't the two of us go to the Peabody in Memphis for a few days?

We can watch the ducks and forget about the ants. :-P

Hey Stacy-
I was talking to a woman today, strangely enough about ants, and she said the way to get rid of them is to bait them. Spraying them will work for a while but if you bait them, they take it back and either contaminate their hidey-hole or kill the queen.
Hope it helps...
