Since my last post was #666

I'm gonna post something else real quick. What can I say, I'm a little superstitious.

I just read this article, and I really liked the way it started. I had to go to the doctor last week, and as in every other waiting room with a TV in the great state of Mississippi, the TV was tuned to Fox News. I was waiting for a full 45 minutes, during which not one instance of actual, nationally-impacting news was reported. They were talking about OJ's arrest and Britney Spears' custody battle. I can't remember the name of the show, but it was a panel of four seemingly intelligent people led by a super hot blonde.

Yes, OJ and Britney are celebrities. Yes, the American public in general cares about what goes on in the lives of celebrities - I'll bet more people know Britney Spears' children's names than can name the president and vice president. Yes, hundreds of celebrity gossip websites and at least one television channel devoted to celebrity schadenfreude (E!) exist. Nothing about celebrities' personal lives should ever be on a news channel. I'd understand if Britney died - but even that wouldn't deserve the media blowout that Anna Nicole's death got.

I'm sickened by the state of news. And people wonder why I get my news primarily on the Internet. It's self-editing.

Mika Brzezenski deserves her own show. (If you haven't seen this video... where have you been?)

Stacey, that is a good point---why is it that Fox is always on in Doctor Offices?

Cow would guess there is financial remuneration involved, as in most everything doctors do.

Perhaps Fox provided the tv and cable, in exchange for always having their station on?

Moo!

Hence the nickname "Faux News." What a sorry excuse for TV programming. :(

unrelated, but thanks for sending us Ace's picture. I've got it as the album cover on the gallery I posted this morning. What a cute picture!

Cow, it's not just doctor's offices, it's the car wash, the bank, EVERYWHERE I go, it's Fox News. I suspect it's because of the overwhelming conservativism in this state.

Sandi, you're welcome! Far be it me to NOT share Ace.

It's the only thing that's ever on in the cafeteria where I work too.

Heh. That last comment made it sound like I work in a cafeteria. Well maybe I do!
