Results are in

Can I get 'em? Ha!

Ace's pediatrician's nurse called and said that the results were in, but she couldn't interpret them and the pediatrician is out of town till Monday. She got them from pediatrics, so I should call pediatrics and see if they could give me the results.

Great! The nurse in peds did tell me yesterday that I could call them about the results. I call them. They can't give me the results. They don't have them anymore. (I think that's communication error number 74.) Can your radiologist give them to you? Well, I don't know, I'll call radiology.

Radiology has 'em, but they're not allowed to give 'em to me. Ahhh, bureaucracy. Rock.

Hmm, what next? Oh, I'll call the neurologist, who ordered this in the first place. Surely he'll have them. Oh, it's voice mail, no problem. Wait, what? You'll get back to me within 24 hours? I'm sorry, do you have any idea how long that is in mommy time? Left voice mail, called back to see if the doctor is even in today. Oh, he's out of the country till the 15th? Interesting.

Called the pediatrician's nurse back. Left voice mail. Please, get someone, anyone else to read the results and interpret them. I'm starting to fa-reak out.

Called pediatrics back. Hi, yeah, this is about the 10th communication error, and I'm getting really annoyed. Someone there has them, and they need to give them to me. Now, if not sooner. Nope, still don't have 'em. Call medical records.

Left a message with medical records.

I've only been awake for an hour, and I'm reeeeally wondering why I gave up caffeine 3 years ago. Why call me if I can't get them?

you have to love all the hospital bureacracy. We just went throught the same thing with jasons dad who had back surgery yesterday. Fight and fight to get anything approved then no one knows anything when you can and you get a runaround forever...i hate it. Why cant they just do what they say they will do the first time!!!

Makes you really confident about future medical procedures, doesn't it? Sheesh! Once when Landon was 3 months old, his ped. sent him to have some liver blood tests done...While the idiot teeny-bopper nurse was trying to pin him down and sticking his poor arm for the 4th time (me ready to puke!!), she announced to us she'd never drawn blood on a baby before! Another time a nurse messed up my iv in a dangerous way b/c she didn't know what she was doing! I could go on and on!

On a better note, I've come to know that when there's something seriously wrong on an MRI, the radiologist will not let you leave--So maybe that's good news? Let us know! :o)

I hope you get them soon and that they actually manage some bedside manners when they give them to you. Doctors can be such putzes!

Sorry if this comes through twice, blogger just locked up on me.

My mom is Nurse Manager for a geriatric psychiatric unit for a hospital and it makes her LIVID when her nurses/staff do that kind of stuff to people. It's like if you work for a medical facility you become immune to what it's like to be on the other side.

So, now for action. I'm close to Baptist, want me to run down there at lunch and make some huge picket signs that say "Free Ace's Records!" or perhaps just find the idiots in the office and rough them up?
