Poor Ace. He celebrates his birthday with a trip to the doctor and a buttload (well, arm and legload) of shots. For the rest of the week, he deals with pain from the tooth that's bugging the crap out of him. He gets a big nasty runny nose. Starts coughing. Starts running a fever. Last night, his ear started smelling like bleu cheese wrapped in one of my brother's socks, so I took him to the doctor this morning where we found out that he indeed has an ear infection.
I do believe this is a bonafide cold, with ear infection. I know it sounds mean, but I'm kinda glad. After being absolutely petrified for a whole year that he'd get sick, I'm hoping this one just blows over easily and quickly, showing me that he can handle a cold without getting hospitalized.
Now if I could just get those nettlesome voices out of my head blaming this all on me. shoulda used purell shoulda breastfed longer shoulda skipped the birthday party shoulda kept him safer Shut up already.

I'm sure that it's been pointed out to you that the immune system is a wonderful thing.... whatever attacks it only makes it stronger.
Look on the bright side... this first illness is a minor one, right?
Positives:
1. "Stinky ear" will be a great new nickname for him.
2. At least he didn't get a flat tire.
Although it's not likely to be of much comfort, I'll say only this: Ace would have been mighty cross if you had tried to put Purell in his ear :)
