I have this bizarre seasonal lactose intolerance. I can drink milk like crazy the rest of the year, but during the hotter months (April-October in Miss'ippi) it treats me real bad and I have to switch to soy or rice milk.
Ace has been... well, explosive the past few days. And hooooo-WEE has he stunk. (Drew calls it his "beer sh**.") Do y'all think he's afflicted by a similar lactose intolerance issue? I give him Similac Organic, which is milk-based. Should I switch him to soy-based formula?
The doctor's office is already closed or I'd call and ask. So I'm asking y'all till tomorrow when I can get in touch with the doctor. :)

I would not switch his formula without asking the doctor. If he has been on the same formula since birth then it is probably best to keep him on the same one. You can call the doctors as soon as they open and ask but it could be different factors involved. I have never heard of seasonal lactose intolerance but hey i havent heard of everything....He might have a small bug that is upsetting him..give it a couple of more days to see.
I would not switch until you talk to the doctor. I too am mildly lactose intolerate but I have a SERIOUS allergy to soy milk, in fact in some ways soy is a worse allergen than dairy but the tree huggers don't tell you that. If his allergies are seasonal like his mommy's then it is possible tht he is going through a sensitive phase and anything could be disruptive. In the meantime can you give him rooibus or mix a little plain rooibus in his formula (what is really hip in Europe)
I don't know what to say - I drank soy for a few years thinking I was lactose intolerant. Then we switched to organic milk and I can drink all I want. It could have something to do with the seasonal supply...
