Not again...

I don't know what it is, but every time I have a new assignment, I cannot sleep the night before my first day. I don't think I'm nervous about the assignment, rather, I'm nervous about not sleeping. Okay, maybe mixed with a little nervousness about the assignment. Although I don't know why. I've only really sucked at one assignment, and that was because the phone system was so tremendously complicated that I needed a much, MUCH longer assimilation period than what I got. Every other assignment has been a breeze.

Last night, I started getting ready for bed at a respectable 10 pm. Given that it takes me about 15 minutes to do my nightly beautification ritual, I figured I'd have a little time to talk to my husband before I hunkered down and went to sleep. I actually closed my eyes at around 10:45. But by George, I could not sleep. Couldn't turn my brain off. Finally, I had to almost trick myself to go to sleep by picking up the book I was reading and trying to read it - you know, the whole try NOT to sleep and you'll sleep thing? It works for me. Sometimes. I don't know what time I fell asleep because I had my alarm clock turned around, but I don't think it was very long ago. I'm tired, y'all.

I'm glad I had earplugs in, though. If Nimbus would have woken me up at 4 this morning begging to be let in like he did Sunday morning, I'd have been some kinda grumpy.

Also, the refrigerator was open when I woke up. Pez knows there's tuna in there, so now his punk self is opening the fridge. Not sure how I'll remedy that. Packing tape, I guess. My cat is an evil genius.

I tried the book thing once. It turned out to be really good and I couln't put it down, nor go to sleep. Figures...

Have you thought about the possibility that you couldn't get to sleep due to your habit of staying up late on the computer? :D Or was that a one time thing?

If Pez had thumbs, he'd be a fat computer hacker.
